Family Reunion Activities
When it comes to organizing family reunion activities, the best place to start searching for what would be ideal for yours is the internet. There are lots of websites and blogs which have been set up and which offer plenty of ideas of activities you could use for your family reunion. Below we provide a number of different activities that you may want to use when organizing your family reunion.
1. Family Tree
With this particular activity, what you need to do is get everybody to like up in just the same way, as their name would appear on your family's genealogical chart. Then once everybody is in the correct position take some pictures.
Initially take the pictures starting with the youngest members of the group up to the oldest. Then swap around and take photographs from the oldest down to the youngest.
When choosing the kinds of activities that you wish to include at your family reunion it is important that you choose ones, which everyone will participate in. In addition, it is a great idea to use a few games or activities, which are likely to break the ice and get everybody to know each other a little bit. Below are a few games, which are ideal for helping people to renew or make new acquaintances.
2. Learn Names and Hobbies
This is a very simple activity and one in which everybody can join in. All you need to do is ask everybody to either sit or stand in a circle facing one and other. Then as you go round the circle get everyone to say who they are then carry out some kind of charade to show what their favorite hobby or activity is at home.
3. Scramble Time
This is a game that does require people to get up on their feet and move around quite a bit. So is not ideal for the older members of your family, but they will have fun watching the activity. Once everybody is on their feet, you then start to call out things and the members of your family have to form up into groups based on those things, which you have called out. So for example if you say, form a group, where members of your family have blue eyes then those with blue eyes move into this group.
You can play this game for only a short period of time or a much longer period if you so wish. But by the end, everyone will know far more about each other than they did before the activity actually started.
Hopefully the family reunion activities we have mentioned above will provide you with some ideas for your next family reunion. But as previously mentioned to find even more great ideas that you can then use later on the best place to start your search for such games and activities is by going online.
Family Reunion Tip #1
A great idea for making much more personal nametags for your family reunion is to ask each family member to send in a passport size photo of themselves with their reply. Then as each one arrives, stick this on to some card and then arrange to have each one laminated after their names have been included on them.
Family Reunion Tip #2
It is best that you choose a date well in to the future. This will in turn then give all of those you invite to the reunion plenty of time to plan and organize any time they need to take off or out of their busy schedules.
Family Reunion Tip #3
When it comes to choosing the right family reunion theme it should be the one that most people will enjoy participating in. So another way of ensuring that you have chosen the right theme is by getting those invited to vote on the one that they like the best. Then inform the rest of what the majority have voted for and base your reunion around this particular theme.
